- In 2019, Zion National Park generated over a quarter of a billion dollars, and supported employment for over 4,000 people.
- Zion was originally known as Mukuntuweap National Monument, paying homage to the Native Americans, who were the original inhabitants of the park. The name meant “straight arrow” in Paiute. The name was changed to Zion ten years later, for easier pronunciation, although there was dissent at the decision at the time.
- Angel’s Rest Trail is known as one of the most dangerous hikes in the world. The steep slopes of the hike can prove dangerous if proper precautions are not taken. The park has taken safety measures to ensure the safety of visitors who are after the spectacular views that the hike offers.
- Zion protects many historical sites within its boundaries. Some of these include ancient artwork, old granaries, and trails carved by the original inhabitants of the canyon.
